Sam Bradford will probably sleep a little easier tonight now that former Atlanta Falcons right guard Harvey Dahl will now be protecting him. The St. Louis Rams reportedly signed the 30-year-old to a four-year deal on Friday.
Harvey Dahl Signs With Rams, Bolsters Sam Bradford’s Protection
The Rams were already doing a decent job of protecting Bradford, allowing 34 sacks which put them 15th best in the league. What Dahl does provide, though, is maybe a little bit of help in rushing. The Rams ranked 25th in the league with just 1,578 yards last year and nine rushing touchdowns. The Falcons, meanwhile, ranked 12th in rushing yards (1,891) and ninth in touchdowns (14).
Dahl has a reputation as a dirty player, although it’s questionable if that’s a negative thing for an offensive lineman. He was named as one of the league’s “dirtiest” players in a Sports Illustrated poll.
This almost definitely means the end to Adam Goldberg's time with the Rams. He is currently an unrestricted free agent and it seems highly unlikely that the Rams would bring him back after signing Dahl.
