Syracuse RB Prince-Tyson Gulley Stabbed, According To Reports

Syracuse Orange running back Prince-Tyson Gulley was stabbed on the Syracuse campus on Friday morning, according to multiple reports. Gulley, 19, had attended an on-campus party that reportedly broke into a fight. Gulley received multiple stab wounds, but they are not considered life-threatening injuries. Another victim was later found and sent to a local hospital for his injuries.

According to the Daily Orange, the school’s Department of Public Safety believes the attacker is not a student at Syracuse. Our Syracuse blog wonders about the relationship between university students and those who live in the area:

I’ve heard personally from friends in the area who are not students, and people who were students. [T]he uneasy relationship that sometimes results from the non-student population mingling with the student population at parties, particularly on campus where this incident occurred.

But they are not jumping to any conclusions and caution us to not think that being at the party caused this to happen.

In a statement released by head coach Doug Marrone, the school acknowledged the incident and mentioned it would work with the authorities to reach a conclusion on this matter.

Gulley was expected to be a major contributor out of the backfield, as he was slated to be the second-string running back this fall. His status for the team is unknown right now.
