Auburn WR Quan Bray’s Mother Killed, Reportedly By Bray’s Father

The mother of Auburn wide receiver Quan Bray was murdered on Sunday. According to WTVM-9 in Columbus, Ga., LaGrange, Ga. police responded to a car accident before finding a woman, later identified as Tonya Bray, with a gunshot wound to the head in the driver's seat. She was pronounced dead at West Georgia Medical Center.

Jeff Jones turned himself in for the murder of Bray, claiming that he shot her while driving alongside Bray’s car. According to police reports, Bray and Jones had been together in an 18-year relationship, but they have not yet confirmed whether the two were married. As WTVM’s report points out, Quan’s official profile at the school’s website lists Jeff Jones as his father.

Bray will be a freshman for the Tigers this fall after choosing Auburn in front of a national television audience. From SB Nation Atlanta:

Many will remember Quan Bray as the Troup County blue-chip player who committed to Auburn during the ESPNU All-America game with his family at his side by proclaiming, “War Eagle, baby! War Eagle, baby!” in a delightful west Georgia accent. Watching that video, filled with smiling faces, is not at all pleasant right now.
