Syracuse WR Marcus Sales Arrested On Felony Drug Charges

The Post-Standard is reporting that Syracuse senior WR Marcus Sales is facing felony drug charges after being arrested Friday night.

Sales, 21, of 362 Valley Drive, was in a car with his brother, Michael Sales Jr., 25, of the same address, when police stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation near Midland and Ballantyne avenues just before 9:45 p.m.

According to Syracuse police reports, the brothers were taken into custody after drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in their car after the vehicle was stopped for running a red light.

Doug Marrone, who has had to make a lot of statements this weekend, has one more:

"We are aware of the charges against Marcus Sales," Marrone said in a statement released this afternoon through the football office. "We will continue to work with the proper authorities and the university, and will handle the matter internally, according to university and Athletics Department policies."

Sales ran a red light while driving without possession of a license in a car that contained baggies full of marijuana, Lortab (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) tablets and, my personal favorite, “other baggies with devil, superman and pit bull insignias on them.” Oh, and he was drinking alcohol while driving.

Coach Marrone is a bit of a stickler for the rules. He’s kicked players off the team simply for missing curfews and meetings. So one would imagine that, in spite of the fact that he is slotted to be a starting receiver for the Orange this season, Sales’ days with Syracuse are in danger of being over.
