Yankees Vs. Indians Final Score: C.C. Sabathia And Curtis Granderson Pace Yanks In 9-2 Victory

C.C. Sabathia notched an 11-strikeout performance to lead the New York Yankees to a 9-2 win over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field Tuesday night.

Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher, Jorge Posada, and Brett Gardner all had multi-hit games for the Yankees, who racked up 17 hits against Carlos Carrasco and a series of Indians relievers. Jeter's two hits gave him 2,996 for his career, leaving him four shy of 3,000.

Two of Granderson’s three hits were home runs, giving him 25 for the season. His first homer, a two-run shot, capped a five-run second inning that gave the Yankees a big lead that they never relinquished.

Sabathia only allowed five hits and two walks in seven innings against his former team. 69 of the 100 pitches he threw were strikes.

The Boston Red Sox also won Tuesday night, so the Yankees maintain a 1.5-game lead on Boston in the A.L. East race.
