If the first half wasn't entertaining enough, the second half sure didn't lack drama. FC Dallas was battling to hold on to a 2-1 lead when first defender George John was issued a second yellow card to end his night early and then Zach Loyd brought down Gabe Farfan in the box for the game's second penalty kick. Sebastien Le Toux stepped up and scored the game-tying goal, his second of the night from the penalty spot.
Philadelphia Union Vs. FC Dallas: Le Toux’s Brace Ends Game In 2-2 Draw
Dallas let this one slip away considering they went into the second half with the lead. Brek Shea finished off a great chance from Marvin Chavez, who beat Faryd Mondragon.
The Toros also had a goal from newcomer Maicon Santos early in the game. Santos finished off a play that saw Carlos Valdes and Mondragon have a miscue with one another off a Zach Loyd throw-in.
But the story of the night was Le Toux and his two goals from the penalty spot. The first one came off a foul on Ugo Ihemelu who brought down Justin Mapp in the box shortly after the first Dallas goal.
The big story going into this match was the debut of Freddy Adu. The 22-year old played 60 minutes for the Union in his debut. He linked up nicely with Le Toux and others in the first half but didn’t do anything spectacular.
With the draw Dallas stays second in the Western Conference with 43 points, five behind the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Union now move into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with 34 points.
