San Jose Earthquakes Vs. Colorado Rapids: 10-Man Quakes Fall 2-1

Just five minutes after the break, Cronin’s day got worse and came to an end all at once, although it’s tough to blame Cronin for this one. He went in to try and win a 50/50 ball, but he got there just a hair late. He did go in awkwardly, but there wasn’t much contact, it wasn’t with the studs and he wasn’t horribly late. Even so, the referee remarkably saw fit to send Cronin off and the Quakes were down to 10 men.

The Earthquakes will feel cheated by the referee’s awful decision to send Cronin off. Their dominance of the first half hour should have also resulted in more than one goal, but when you are winless in more than two months it is wrong to blame luck or the referee. The simple fact is that the Quakes aren’t getting the job done right now. Colorado is happy to get three points though and put four points between them and fifth place Salt Lake, although Real does have four matches in hand.

Philadelphia Union Vs. FC Dallas: Le Toux’s Brace Ends Game In 2-2 Draw

The big story going into this match was the debut of Freddy Adu. The 22-year old played 60 minutes for the Union in his debut. He linked up nicely with Le Toux and others in the first half but didn’t do anything spectacular.

New York Red Bulls Vs. Chicago Fire: Kings Of Draws Finish 2-2

Chicago’s lead held all the way until the 63rd minute. With Grazzini on the turf injured, New York had a man advantage. Lindpere opened the play up by finding Richards on the right and the Jamaican crossed right back in for Lindpere. The cross wasn’t very good, hit hard at Lindpere’s thigh, but he did a tremendous job to open up and sidefoot the ball home to put the match back on level terms.

The draw now means that New York has played to a deadlock 13 times this season, while Chicago has bested them with 14 draws on the year. It’s hardly something to be proud of, especially for New York, who has won just one match since June 10 and are in danger of falling outside of the Eastern Conference’s top three.

Toronto FC Vs. Real Salt Lake: Plata’s Strike Gives Reds Three Points

Toronto pushed the issue with their new offense early and often in this one. The Reds had early chances with Marosevic and Danny Kovermans.

The win pushes Toronto to 23 points on the season, good enough for seventh place in the Eastern Conference. RSL stays at 36 points on the year and loses a chance to move up in the standings.

Seattle Sounders Vs. Chivas USA Score: Both Teams Come Up Empty In Controversial Draw

Missed chances, a missed penalty and a controversial final few minutes resulted in a 0-0 draw between the Seattle Sounders and Chivas USA on Saturday afternoon. Both sides had their chances, though Seattle dominated the run of play for much of the game, but neither had anything to show for it. Instead, a poorly taken penalty by Alvaro Fernandez and a spat of subpar finishing left Seattle with a disappointing result and a scoreless draw.

The controversy came in stoppage time as Lamar Neagle got free in the box, made a quick move toward the byline and appeared to be hip-checked down by a Chivas defender. In the immediate aftermath of the collision, referee Kevin Stott blew his whistle and pointed to the spot, leading some to believe he had awarded a penalty. Instead, Stott simply let the play go with no call, awarding a goal kick and infuriating Seattle players and coaches, resulting in a yellow card for Erik Friberg after he protested.
