The Houston Dynamo started slow and trailed for almost the entirety of their match against the New England Revolution on Wednesday, but a scrappy team effort and a great chance created by potential MLS MVP candidate Brad Davis helped salvage a point for the Dynamo, as they drew the Revs 1-1 at Gillette Stadium. Bobby Boswell was the man who scored the goal, but Davis's fingerprints were all over it.
New England Revolution Vs. Houston Dynamo: Bobby Boswell Salvages Draw For Dynamo
Ryan Cochrane's opener was an absolute gift, given away by a Dynamo team whose defense has been average at best in MLS this season. Following a cross, the Dynamo completely failed to clear their lines and somehow let the ball bounce around the box for what felt like 10 seconds, eventually resulting in Tally Hall getting caught out of position as Cochrane scored a tap-in.
The Dynamo would have the last laugh, though, as they snagged an equalizer that will be a crushing blow to New England. Davis set it up with a cross to substitute and newly acquired Honduran international Carlo Costly, who put his header on target. The ball was blocked away, but only as far as Boswell, who finished off the move with an equalizer that gave Houston an important point, but more importantly took two away from the Revs.
Houston are still sitting on the fringes of the playoffs, while New England’s chances will have been seriously damaged by the two dropped points. The Revs are now nine points out of a playoff position.
