The second half of the preseason game between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasn't terribly interesting, but the first half might have showed fans a lot of what they need to know about the two teams going forward. While both the Pats and the Bucs had their starters in the game, New England ran rampant through the Tampa defense while smothering Josh Freeman as the Pats took a 28-0 lead into halftime. The Bucs saved face a bit in the second half, bringing the final score back to 31-14, but the second half didn't look like more than a quick run-out for the backups.
Patriots Vs. Buccaneers Final Score: Tom Brady, New England Defense Impress In Win
Tom Brady was 11/19 passing for 118 yards and two touchdowns, while the two-headed rushing tandem of BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead ran all over Tampa, making Brady's life easy. Freeman was poor for Tampa, but it was hardly his fault. He had no running game to support him and he had no time to throw as the Bucs' offensive line put in a poor performance.
The Patriots move on to face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in their third preseason game, while Tampa host the Miami Dolphins at home.
