Lawrence Frank’s tenure as the Detroit Pistons’ head coach will officially begin Wednesday, according to Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News, when he is introduced as the Pistons’ coach in a noon press conference.
Lawrence Frank To Be Officially Introduced As Pistons Coach On Wednesday
Frank reportedly agreed to become the Pistons’ next head coach last Friday, and will be taking over in Motown from John Kuester, who was fired in June. Frank has a career 225-241 record from his seven seasons coaching the New Jersey Nets, but was 225-225 entering the 2009-10 season before his Nets opened the year 0-16, leading to Frank’s firing.
Frank’s Nets teams adhered to mediocrity admirably during the bulk of his coaching career: in his five full seasons in New Jersey, Frank never had a time win or lose more than 50 games.
NBA teams can still conduct business unrelated to players during the lockout, as the Pistons are doing by hiring Frank.
