Lawrence Frank Agrees To Contract To Become Detroit Pistons Coach, According To Report

Lawrence Frank had verbally agreed to become the next head coach of the Detroit Pistons. Now, he has agreed to put the pen to the paper. Frank will soon sign a four-year deal to become the Pistons' head coach, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The fourth year is a team option.

Frank will ultimately head a rebuilding effort that has been long-needed in Detroit since the Pistons' last of six consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 2008. With the picks of Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight, the Pistons have begun to build a young core.

Frank ultimately beat out former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Woodson for the job, according to Wojnarowski. He is the former coach of the New Jersey Nets before spending a year as Doc Rivers' lead assistant in Boston. He will replace John Kuester, who was fired after two years on the job.
