Andy Carroll has earned himself a yellow card for kicking the ball into the back of the net after finding himself several miles offside following a mistimed run, Martin Atkinson being surrounded by Arsenal players before reaching into his pocket and chastising the lumpen forward for his heinous misdeed.
Arsenal Vs. Liverpool: Andy Carroll Booked
At the other end of the pitch, Andrei Arshavin pings in a good cross whose effectiveness is somewhat curtailed by the fact that neither Robin van Persie nor Theo Walcott are anywhere to be seen. Emmanuel Frimpong forces Pepe Reina into his first save of the match with a long-range daisy cutter which forces the Spanish goalkeeper to get down to tip away. An ambitious 60-yard effort towards Wojciech Szczesny's goal from Charlie Adam doesn't require any such effort from the Arsenal man.
Anyway, that's the hosts' best spell of the match, and it still wasn't very good. Still, they're holding off Liverpool, just about, and considering the makeshift team they're putting out, that's something, I guess. 0-0 at the Emirates after 30 minutes.
