Norwich City put in another solid performance early in their English Premier League campaign, but once again they have come up just short of all three points. Thanks to a questionable red card call and a 94th minute equalizer, the Canaries have split the points with Stoke City, who should feel a bit lucky to walk away with anything.
Norwich City Vs. Stoke City: Full Time, Kenwyne Jones Equalizes At The Death
Richie De Laet scored the opener with a header on a set piece in the first half, but Jones rescued a point for the Potters in stoppage time, heading in a cross from Glenn Whelan. The Norwich defense and John Ruddy did well to keep Stoke off the board for 93 minutes, but couldn't hold out until the end.
The game changed significantly in the 63rd minute when Leon Bennett fouled Jonathan Walters, for which he was shown a straight red card and Stoke were granted a penalty. Bennett committed a foul without a doubt, but the foul absolutely occurred outside of the penalty area and whether or not a red card was warranted is certainly debatable, which is being generous to the referee. Ruddy saved the penalty, but Stoke would be on the front foot from that point forward.
Norwich did well to hold out for as long as they did, but they will be disappointed that they were denied their first Premier League win.
