Whether it's a one-off performance or Martin Jol has some serious work to do, Fulham looked very poor at Molineaux on Saturday afternoon, as Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated them 2-0. Wolves were the slightly better, though not obviously superior side for the opening 40 minutes of the match. In the final five minutes of the first half, they scored twice through Kevin Doyle and Matthew Jarvis, giving them a 2-0 lead heading into the locker room. They would not relinquish that lead and held on for all three points.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs. Fulham: Full Time, Wolves Coast Against Poor Fulham Side
In the second half, Wolves did what they did best and shut up shop. As the home side played a slightly more defensive game, Fulham continued to struggle to create chances. It was a poor performance from the Cottagers, and while there’s no reason for their fans to panic, they will be at least slightly upset and/or annoyed by the way their team played.
Temporarily, Wolves are top of the English Premier League. Just laugh at that for a second. Obviously, if either Bolton or Manchester City win outright in the later game, they will knock Wolves off the top spot.
