Albert Haynesworth is back in practice with the New England Patriots after a 20-day layoff. He was in court Monday entering a no contest plea to simple assault in a sexual abuse case involving a Washington D.C. cocktail waitress. With his legal obligations behind him, Haynesworth was able to participate in full pads and take part in individual drills.
Albert Haynesworth Rejoins Practice With Patriots After Legal Settlement
The full reason for Haynesworth's absence is still officially unknown. The oft-troubled defensive tackle passed his physical, an issue the previous year with the Redskins, and had been dominant at times in early practices with the Patriots. An undisclosed injury may have played a part, though the fact that he is back in practice the day after his settlement suggests that his legal issues were holding him back.
Head coach Bill Belichick indicated that there was a possibility that Haynesworth could play in the team's third preseason game against the Lions on Saturday.
