Thome has no-trade clause; preference is Phillies.
Dammit, Thome. Don’t ruin this. Reuniting with your high-school girlfriend: touching. Reuniting with that co-worker you were seeing until they met someone younger: not as touching. It’s hard to blame Thome too much -- he’s never won a championship, and the Phillies have just a slight advantage over the Indians as it stands.
But the Indians have the claim, so Thome has to decide if he's going to spend the rest of his season with the Twins or Indians. I'd guess that if he really, really wanted to go to the Indians, the Twins would allow him to do so. If the Indians were about three or four games closer to the Tigers, the decision would probably be easy. As it stands though, it would be a nice story,but not a pennant-changer.
