Stephen Strasburg To Begin Rehab Assignment Sunday

Tuesday, the rehabbing Stephen Strasburg threw 51 pitches in a simulated game. At that point, he was all but scheduled for a minor league rehab start over the weekend - all he had to do was get through a Thursday side session.

Adam Kilgore?

It’s official: Stephen Strasburg’s side session went good today, and he’ll pitch Sunday in Hagerstown.

Bam. Strasburg's side session went off without a hitch, and now the rehab assignment is officially on. Strasburg will begin in Hagerstown, but he'll rise quickly, with an eye towards pitching for the Nationals before the end of the regular season.

Hagerstown, incidentally, is the Nationals’ A-ball affiliate. A year ago, Strasburg reported straight to double-A Harrisburg, then advanced to triple-A Syracuse. So this will be the lowest professional level at which Strasburg has pitched. Good news, opposing A-ball hitters!
