Albert Pujols homered and scored three runs, Matt Holliday drove in three and the St. Louis Cardinals swept the Florida Marlins with an 8-4 win Sunday.

Playing most of the game in the rain, the Cardinals completed their first ever four-game sweep of the Marlins in Florida and their first four-game sweep on the road since 2004 at Pittsburgh.

Bryan Petersen hit a pinch-hit two-run homer for the blunder-prone Marlins, who began their 10-game homestand 0-4.

The start of the game was delayed 82 minutes because of rain.

Mitchell Boggs (2-3) earned the win in relief of Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia, who gave up two runs and six hits in five innings.

Boggs gave up Petersen's homer in the sixth, which tied the game at 4-4, but was the benefactor of a three-run Cardinals rally in the seventh.

Michael Dunn (5-6) took the loss after relieving starter Javier Vazquez in the seventh and getting only one out. He was charged with two unearned runs.

Vazquez gave up four runs in six innings while adding two hits on offense, including a double and a run scored. He didn't allow a hit until Pujols' homer in the fourth inning.

St. Louis scored three runs in the seventh for a 7-4 lead. The Marlins nearly had two quick outs to start the inning, but Corey Patterson reached on Emilio Bonifacio's throwing error from short. Later, Ryan Theriot hit an RBI single and Holliday delivered a two-run base hit. The Cardinals loaded the bases on two walks but couldn't score again.
