Stephen Strasburg’s Tuesday Return Endangered By Weather

Washington Nationals fans -- and indeed, baseball fans everywhere -- have been following the progress of right-hander Stephen Strasburg from Tommy John surgery, through several rehab stops, and now to his scheduled start Tuesday night against the Dodgers in Washington.

There’s only one potential problem with all of this, and it can be best displayed by this picture:

That’s right, the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, interacting with a slow-moving cold front, are moving very slowly up the eastern seaboard this week, and rain has been falling off and on in the Washington area most of the day. The forecast doesn’t look so good, either:

Tonight: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 65. East wind between 3 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Our SB Nation Dodgers blog True Blue LA has more information:

That’s all well and good, but the Washington-area forecast doesn’t look good for Wednesday, either. In any case, the Nats will likely try to get this game in tonight, as they have a significant advance ticket sale. But if they can’t, the Washington Post’s Adam Kilgore has some information about a possible Strasburg appearance on Wednesday:

If tonight's game is banged, Strasburg will pitch at 1 pm in the 1st game of a split doubleheader tomorrow.less than a minute ago via Mobile Web Favorite Retweet Reply
