Former Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams took part in the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis last February and while there he also tested positive for marijuana, according to a report from Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.

Despite what ESPN The Magazine tells you, smoking marijuana probably isn’t the biggest problem NFL GMs have seen. What is concerning, though, is that a player would fail a test he knew was coming. That speaks to the level of maturity of the player. It’s also concerning that this isn’t his first issue like this, which makes you wonder if it’s a trend.

Along with Matt Kalil, Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin, Adams is considered one of the top handful of offensive tackles available in next week’s NFL draft. He could be a first round pick, or fall to the top of the second round.

Adams has since been up front with teams about his positive test, according to La Canfora.

The positive result will make him a moderate risk, and could result in him sliding to the second round, but other players with positive results in years past still have ended up in the first round. Adams has told people he was unaware of the positive result at the time of combine interviews, which is why he did not tell teams then.
