2012 NFL Draft Results: Saints Select Wisconsin WR Nick Toon In The 4th Round

A pair of wide receivers came off the board as the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft continued on Saturday afternoon in New York City. The New Orleans Saints drafted Wisconsin receiver Nick Toon, who could be a potential replacement for Robert Meachem, who left via free agency. This was only the second pick in the draft for the Saints.

121. Houston Texans: Michigan State WR Keyshawn Martin, 5'11", 192 pounds

122. New Orleans Saints: Wisconsin WR Nick Toon, 6’2”, 215 pounds

123: Philadelphia Eagles: Georgia CB Brandon Boykin, 5'9", 182 pounds

Boykin is just 5 feet 10, making him undersized for the position, but Mocking the Draft isn’t counting out the possibility of success for the former Bulldog:

Despite being a bit undersized, Brandon Boykin more than held his own in the SEC. Boykin is an extremely competitive cornerback with solid leaping ability. Ball skills are essential to a defensive back, and Boykin makes tons of plays on the ball. If he was a bit bigger, we [would have been] talking about him as a first round pick.

124: Buffalo Bills: LSU CB Ron Brooks, 5'10", 190 pounds

125: Detroit Lions: Oklahoma LB Ronnell Lewis, 6'1", 253 pounds

Here’s what Mocking The Draft had to say about Lewis before the draft:

Strengths: Lewis is intriguing as a pass rusher because he’s fast and closes on the ball carrier in a hurry. He plays with a lot of power and aggression and is hard to keep blocked. Is patient enough to stay at home in the run game and not allow a cutback lane. High upside.

Weaknesses: Underdeveloped as a pass rusher. Needs to build counter moves before he can consistently be relied on to get after the passer. Mostly inexperienced dropping back into coverage. Didn’t get along with coaches and had academic issues. Will be a developmental player developmental players coaches have to be patient with.
