Chandler Jones, Patriots 1st Round Pick, Agrees To Terms

Chandler Jones and the New England Patriots have agreed to terms, the team announced Wednesday. Jones was selected with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was just the third defensive end off the board behind Quinton Coples and Melvin Ingram. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones started three seasons at Syrcause, where he racked up 193 tackles, 10 sacks and five forced fumbles. He earned All-Big East honors during his junior season with 46 tackles and 4.5 sacks before declaring for the draft as an early entrant. The feat is even more impressive considering he played in just seven games after suffering a leg injury.

The SB Nation blog Mocking the Draft had Jones rated as the seventh best defensive end before draft day, and praised his size and athleticism.
