Vikings Get 1st Round Pick Harrison Smith Under Contract

The Minnesota Vikings have joined the party and signed their first round pick Harrison Smith. The safety out of Notre Dame was the 29th overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. Smith's selection came when the Vikings traded back into the first round of the draft.

The Vikings secondary was one of the biggest problems for the team this offseason and they're hoping to solve that with the addition of Smith and CB Josh Robinson, both 2012 draft picks.

The Vikings first pick of the draft was offensive tackle Matt Kalil.

There are three teams remaining that have yet to sign a draft pick -- Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders. Seven other teams have signed all of their draft picks including the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks.

The NFL’s new rookie wage scale has resulted in draft picks signing faster than ever before.
