Indianapolis Colts Sign Top Pick Andrew Luck

The Indianapolis Colts reached a deal with quarterback Andrew Luck, the first player picked in the 2012 NFL Draft. Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reported news of the deal via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

News of the deal comes less than an hour after Colts owner Jim Irsay urged his Twitter followers not to worry about the team getting Luck signed in time for training camp.

The deal is a four-year contract with a fifth-year option, standard for first-round picks in under the new CBA. Chappell also reported that the deal is worth approximately $22 million with a $14.5 million signing bonus.

Luck's signing comes a day after the Washington Redskins announced a deal with quarterback Robert Griffin III, the second pick in the draft. With the first two picks locked up, the players selected in spots three through eight will likely follow suit.
