Janoris Jenkins, Rams Finally Complete Rookie Contract

With NFL training camps underway or beginning over the next few days, those unsigned rookies are inking their initial contracts. On Tuesday night, the St. Louis Rams and second-round pick Janoris Jenkins reached an agreement, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The contract is reportedly a four-year deal worth $5 million, with $3.1 million guaranteed. The guaranteed money, Thomas reports, is the highest percentage increase for any second-rounder this year over 2011 second-rounders. This deal comes nearly a week after similar terms were leaked to the public, a deal Jenkins’ agent did not want to take. There was also a dispute over the Rams choosing a financial advisor for Jenkins, which would have violated the collective bargaining agreement had they gone through with it.

Jenkins went No. 39 overall to the Rams in April, having had the talent to be a first-round pick, but off-field issues caused some concerns. He had two drug-related arrests while with the Florida Gators and finished his career at North Alabama.
