Raiders Part Ways With Kamerion Wimbley

Lombardi reports the Raiders will release Wimbley on Friday. This move has been speculated for a while now because Wimbley is due $11 million in 2012 and 2013. The Raiders would have trouble fitting him under their salary cap.

Wimbley signed a reported five-year, $48 million deal just last August.

The Raiders are in cap trouble and they only have a couple of draft picks. They’re going to have to either draft really well or find talent from within the organization. There’s just not much they can do in free agency. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, as there is a lot of talent on the team. I don’t see them making a big splash in free agency because they don’t have the money.

In 13 games last season, Boss had 28 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. At 28 years old, he shouldn’t have a problem finding another job.

The franchise tag number for safeties is expected to be just over $6 million for the 2012 season. Another team could attempt to sign Branch but the price would be two first round picks (and a contract) so that’s not going to happen.
