Chad Henne Expected To Hit Free Agency

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne was picked by the team in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft in the hopes of developing into their franchise quarterback. The Dolphins are a team that has lacked any stability at the quarterback position since Dan Marino retired over a decade ago, and the hopes was Henne could be that guy.

Henne unfortunately never turned out to be that guy and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Miami Dolphins are not expected to make an offer to retain Henne, according to a report by Omar Kelly of The Sun Sentinel.

The Miami Dolphins’ 2008 second-round pick will become an unrestricted free agent on March 13, and league sources say the Dolphins won’t be making the former University of Michigan standout an offer.

Part of the reason for the disinterest in Henne is the team's rumored interest in Peyton Manning if he hits free agency, free agent quarterback Matt Flynn, or even a first-round quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Henne is likely to find a team in free agency however, especially one looking for a back up quarterback who can still be developed into a potential spot starter.
