Texans Free Agents: Chris Myers Plans To Test The Market

Houston Texans center Chris Myers is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent the season after making his first NFL Pro Bowl. Myers has said he hopes to stay with the Texans; however, a report states his agent met with the Green Bay Packers during the NFL Combine to discuss interest in the free agent center. Myers denied that report.

“News to me, man,” Myers told HoustonTexans.com. “I don’t know what was going on. I’m just like anyone else reading that type of stuff, but it is what it is. In the long run, I want to be here in Houston, so that’s what I’ve been telling everybody when everyone asks me stuff, and that’s what it sums up to be. I want to be here. I want to see things through, and that’s the way it is. So that’s kind of the bottom line of my thinking.”

Myers has started 64 consecutive games for the Texans after originally being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. The Texans traded a sixth-round pick for Myers in 2008, and he's been the starting center ever since. Myers noted this is his first time even experiencing free agency, telling HoustonTexans.com, "This is new territory for me. This is a new field. I've never dealt with unrestricted free agency, so it's a day-by-day thing. I'm feeling it out just like anyone else would for the first time."
