Dolphins Free Agency 2012: Miami Needs A New Quarterback

The Miami Dolphins were one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2011 until they began to turn things around late in the year. Unfortunately they have fallen pretty far behind the Patriots, Jets and Bills in the division and in order to catch back up they'll have to make some drastic moves. Obviously, the most drastic move that they need to make is to bring in a new quarterback.

When it comes to free agents likely to leave Miami, quarterback Chad Henne is an unrestricted free agent and considering that the Dolphins aren't likely to find a lot of success with Henne at the helm, they'll likely let him go somewhere that he can be a good backup. Nose tackle Paul Soliai is also a free agent and is unlikely to return to the team.

At quarterback, the Dolphins have made it very clear that they're interested in Peyton Manning. If Manning signs with elsewhere, the Dolphins may target Packers quarterback Matt Flynn, who new head coach Joe Philbin worked with in Green Bay. The Dolphins have some money to spend, but they may need to drop most, if not all of it, on a new quarterback.
