NFL Free Agency: Will Patriots Pursue Mario Williams?

The Houston Texans recently signed running back Arian Foster to a new long term contract, which many believe has now pushed the Texans to the brink of not being able to afford impending free agent defensive end Mario Williams. If Williams hits the open market, he's sure to be one of the most sought after players in free agency. One team that should be very interested in Williams is the New England Patriots, according to Peter King of SI.com.

I think I’m more convinced than ever: The Patriots, who need major help on defense, should be at the front of the pursuit pack for Mario Williams, assuming the Texans don’t put the franchise tag on him.

The Patriots definitely have a big hole to fill at the pass rusher position, so their interest in Williams would not be surprising. Multiple other teams, such as the Seattle Seahawks and the Jacksonville Jaguars, have been linked to be in play for Williams' services as well.
