Giants vs. Tigers, 2012 World Series Game 4: Game time, TV schedule, lineups and more

The Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants will meet for Game 4 of the World Series Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.

What: San Francisco Giants at Detroit Tigers, World Series Game 4

When: Sunday, October 28, 2012, 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox-TV

Probable pitchers: Matt Cain vs. Max Scherzer

It’s win or go home for the Detroit Tigers, while the San Francisco Giants are on the cusp of their second World Series championship in the last three seasons.

The Giants have dominated the series so far with outstanding pitching, and now they have the pitcher who was their best during the regular season on the mound for Game 4. Cain threw 5⅔ innings of shutout ball against the Cardinals in Game 7 of the NLCS as the Giants made the World Series by blanking St. Louis 9-0.

Tigers scheduled starter Max Scherzer was nearly as good in his ALCS Game 4 start against the Yankees, allowing just one run in 5⅔ innings in that series-clinching game. The Detroit sweep means Scherzer hasn't pitched in nine days, while Cain is going on what would be considered regular rest (four days).

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, as usual, have the call on Fox. The first pitch is set for about 8:15 p.m. ET, a bit later than the first three games.
