Colts vs. Titans 2012: Andrew Luck Brilliant in OT

Andrew Luck earns his first career road win as the Colts win in overtime.

Andrew Luck has already done something his predecessor never did: win four games as a rookie. Peyton Manning was 3-13 in his first season in Indianapolis, but Sunday's 19-13 victory over the Tennessee Ttians assured that Luck will have a better season than Manning did as a rookie in 1998. The Colts are now 4-3, and after winning their first road game in almost two years, they are in control of their own destiny for an AFC wild-card playoff spot.

Luck and the Colts trailed 13-6 in the fourth quarter on Sunday, but Luck led a 14-play, 80-yard drive that Delone Carter capped with a 1-yard run to tie the game with 3:24 left. Luck then led a 9-play, 76-yard drive in overtime where he completed a 20-yard pass to Reggie Wayne on 3rd and 8, setting up a game-winning touchdown pass to Vick Ballard.

Stampede Blue described Luck’s play as simply brilliant:

Sure, there were ups and downs, but for a guy who had struggled mightily on the road this year, this game looked like the Andrew Luck we have seen when at home. Yeah, he threw a bad interception, but just look at his stats in the fourth quarter and overtime. On three drives, he led two touchdowns while completing 10 of his 12 passes (the two incompletions were drops - by Donald Brown and Donnie Avery) for 115 yards and the game winning touchdown to Vick Ballard. He was as clutch as it gets today. For the third time this season, Luck led a game-winning drive. And he's played seven games in his career. That marks two game-winning touchdown passes for Luck. And he's thrown eight this year.

Indianapolis now has a stretch of play against Miami, Jacksonville, New England, and Buffalo where it can take a big step towards returning to the playoffs.
