Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner reportedly violated PED policy

Seahawks cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner are facing four-game suspensions.

Seattle Seahawks cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner are facing four-game suspensions for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Sherman and Browner are planning to appeal their suspensions, claiming innocence. Their drug tests reportedly showed Adderall in their systems.

The news comes as a major blow to the Seahawks, who are fighting for an NFC playoff spot. Seattle is sitting at 6-5 and has five games remaining against the Bears, Cardinals, Bills 49ers and Rams. The Seahawks are currently in second place in the NFC West and tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the final NFC Wild Card spot.

Sherman and Browner have been cornerstones of the Seattle defense this season, combining for 77 tackles, 20 pass breakups, seven interceptions, five forced fumbles, one sack and a fumble recovery. The Seahawks’ defense ranks third in the NFL against the pass, allowing 200.7 yards per game. Seattle gives up 309.4 total yards per game, ranking fifth in the league.

Next up for the Seahawks is a road trip to play the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. Kickoff on Sunday, Dec. 2 is set for 10 a.m. PT, and the game will be televised on FOX.
