Bears vs. Titans 2012: Tennessee overpowered by Chicago

The Bears defense was dominant on Sunday in Nashville.

The numbers were not pretty on Sunday when the Chicago Bears throttled the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, 51-20. The Bears forced five turnovers, blocked a punt and scored when Corey Wootton scooped it up and ran it back, and Brian Urlacher also added a defensive touchdown with a pick-six.

SB Nation’s Music City Miracles was quite blunt in that the game was painful to watch:

I can’t even find the words to explain, mock or analyze the sheer number of turnovers we committed today. 4 fumbles, all by guys who have to be great for us to be good, an interception returned for a pick-6 by perhaps the slowest linebacker in the game right now and a punt blocked for a touchdown. You space those plays out over 3 games and you’ll be lucky to win one of them.

In addition to struggling on offense, the Titans could not contain Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who torched the Tennessee secondary for 122 yards on nine catches. Marshall also found the end zone three times, something he had only done four times combined in the first eight games of the season.

Chris Johnson was at least a highlight for Tennessee, as he rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown, in addition to catching four passes out of the backfield. Johnson has now rushed for more than 90 yards in four straight games.
