Mike MacIntyre to Colorado as new football coach, according to report
The nation’s current most drawn out coaching search has reportedly come to a close. Can Mike MacIntyre turn around Colorado like he did San Jose State?
But all’s well that ends well, and this one appears to have ended well: San Jose State’s Mike MacIntyre will take the job, according to Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel. It’ll reportedly be announced within 24 hours.
MacIntyre was a hot coaching prospect for other jobs after turning in a very impressive 10-win regular season at SJSU, interviewing at Cal and South Florida as well. His prior work is on the defensive side of the ball, most of it in the Southeast and NFL. He hails from Florida and played his college ball at Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. So he’s smart!
In three years with the Spartans, he went 16-21. But that’s going from 1-12 to 10-2, so that’s just about the most impressive possible 16-21. He’ll inherit likely the worst BCS team in the country, so his turnaround skills will get a workout.
