Rams vs. Buccaneers, Week 16: Giving praise to a turnover machine defense

The St. Louis Rams beat the Tampa Buccaneers with an aggressive defensive secondary that created four interceptions.

The St. Louis Rams won for the fourth time in five weeks on Sunday, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road 28-13. The Rams offense was far from dominant against the Bucs but was helped by an opportunistic defense that forced five Tampa Bay turnovers on the day.

Josh Freeman threw for 372 yards on the day as the Bucs offense trudged up and down the field, with Freeman tossing four interceptions and losing a fumble to end any offensive threats his team could muster. Janoris Jenkins led the team with a 41-yard pick-six, and four separate Rams players getting an interception in the game.

Douglas M of Turf Show Times had nothing but praise for the aggressive and young defense:

The Rams defensive secondary is filled with rookies who have gunslinger in their blood. Led by Cortland Finnegan, this unit is quickly becoming one of the best in the NFL. Janoris Jenkins is No. 2 in touchdowns for the Rams this season. His play has vaulted him into the discussion for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. With better safety coverage over the top, this crew could turn into an interception machine next season.

The Rams close out the season on the road in Seattle on Sunday, Dec. 30, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
