Bomani & Jones: Jon Gruden isn’t going to save your program

Jon Gruden coaching rumors have surfaced, as they usually do this time of year. But let’s be honest: he’s not leaving his Monday Night Football gig.

College football’s coaching carousel continues to turn. And, though we’ve gotten past the portion of the program where schools think Jon Gruden will leave his cushy gig on Monday Night Football to save their programs. Good thing that’s over, because JON GRUDEN WILL NOT LEAVE HIS CUSHY GIG ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL TO SAVE YOUR PROGRAM!

Hate to be harsh, but once a year, a school or nine gets excited that Gruden become its football coach. The scuttlebutt gets smokier, and fans can feel the fire. Next thing you know, Gruden proves too happy in his new job to leave. Well, at least too happy to dedicate much of his life to flying across the country blowing smoke up the skirts of teenagers.

But, no matter how many times this happens, people keep on dreaming. And as long as they do, “Bomani & Jones” will be here to tell them to get real.
