Villanova Vs. No. 9 Georgetown: Hoyas Dominate Wildcats And Roll To 21-Point Win

The Georgetown Hoyas improved to 21-6 on Saturday with a convincing 67-46 win over Villanova at Verizon Center. The top 10-ranked Hoyas enter the final week of the season fighting for a top four seed and a double bye in the Big East tournament. Georgetown was walloped by Seton Hall earlier this week, and John Thompson III demanded his team respond against the visiting Wildcats. With no home-and-home series with Syracuse this season, Hoya fans had been looking forward to this weekend matinee matchup as one of the highlights of this year's home schedule. Georgetown responded with a dominant defensive performance against the banged-up and struggling Jay Wright club.

Freshman Otto Porter had an impressive game. Thompson III said that Porter is one of the most prepared freshmen he's coached and he continues to improve and make an impact as the season wears on. Porter took an elbow from Maurice Sutton right to the face in the first minute of the game. Blood flowed from his mouth and nose and Sutton was called for a flagrant one, as the officials ruled he caught him making a basketball move. It was a questionable call but Porter shook off the cobwebs and came back to score 15 points.

Henry Sims and the scoring duo of Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson also scored in double figures for the Hoyas but it was the edge on the glass that really made the difference. Five Georgetown players grabbed at least five rebounds, and enjoyed a 13-rebound advantage on the glass.
