Jets Sign Quinton Coples To 4-Year Contract, According To Report

The New Yorks Jets signed first-round pick Quinton Coples to a four-year contract, according to reports.

The New York Jets agreed to terms on a contract with first-round pick Quinton Coples, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The deal is the standard rookie contract under the new collective bargaining agreement, a guaranteed four-year contract with a team option for a fifth year. Ryan Kerrigan, the No. 16 pick in the 2011 draft, signed a fully guaranteed four-year deal with the Washington Redskins for $8.72 million. The contract for Coples should be worth slightly more.

An impressive rush-end during his time with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Coples was the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. He had an up-and-down senior season in Chapel Hill, but a dominant week at the Senior Bowl. Head coach Rex Ryan indicated that the Jets plan to play Coples in a variety of positions along the front of his 46 defense.

General manager Mike Tannenbaum and the Jets have now signed six of their eight draft picks, with linebacker Demario Davis and wide receiver Jordan White the only unsigned 2012 draftees.
