According to Phillip Wilson of the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Pat Angerer will miss a minimum of six weeks after breaking his foot in the preseason opener. The injury will require surgery. Jerrell Freeman and Mario Harvey sit behind Angerer on the depth chart, however, and Wilson also reports that a linebacker-by-committee will fill in during his absence, and the team is not opposed to acquiring another linebacker through free agency.
Pat Angerer Injury: Colts LB Breaks Foot, Out 6 Weeks
Indianapolis Colts linebacker Pat Angerer will miss six weeks with a broken foot.
This injury is a huge blow to the team as Angerer anchored the Colts defense in 2011, finishing with two forced fumbles, one interception, one sack and a team leading 148 tackles. If Angerer misses the minimum time according to his current injury time table, he could still miss upwards of four regular season games.
The 25 year old Angerer was a 2010 second round pick out of Iowa. He is entering his third season in the NFL, all with the Indianapolis Colts.
