Mark Teixeira Leaves Game With Strained Calf

Mark Teixeira left in the fourth inning of the Yankees’ game against the Blue Jays on Monday night, hobbled by an apparent leg injury.

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira left Monday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning with a left calf strain. Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports that Teixeira will get an MRI on Monday night at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Hoch noted that Teixera appeared to be flexing his left calf while stepping out of the batter's box during a fourth-inning at-bat against Jays starter Henderson Alvarez. He would eventually draw a walk and get on base, move to second on an Eric Chavez single and then come around to score on a Russell Martin single. While Teixeira scored from second on the single, he had a noticeable limp as he made his way around the bases. He crossed home plate and went straight down into the clubhouse.

Teixeira was already dealing with a wrist injury which has bothered him for much of the summer. He indicated recently that the wrist was still sore and likely something he’ll have to deal with for the duration of the season.
