The NFL's replacement referees continue to add undue influence on Week 2 games. Things are particularly egregious in St. Louis, where both the Rams and the Washington Redskins have ended up on the wrong side of scab incompetence.
Mike Pereira Excoriates NFL Over Replacement Referees
The latest incident came on what looked to be a Steven Jackson fumble at the goal line. Under the new rules, any fumble is supposed to be reviewed, but the replacement refs in this game must have missed the memo in their expedited training sessions. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher threw the challenge flag, which is supposed to be a 15-yard penalty for throwing it on a play that gets reviewed no matter what.
The replacement refs missed that too, and former NFL VP of officiating Mike Pereira went on a screed, taking the league to task for its handling of the situation with referees and the damage being done to the game by the sub-standard replacements.
