Hakeem Nicks Injury: Giants Receiver Will Play In Season Opener
The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys kick off the season on Wednesday night, and New York wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, recovering from May toe surgery, has every intention of playing in the regular season opener.
Hakeem Nicks was held out of practice on Sunday as a precaution but says he will play on Wednesday against Dallas.
Head coach Tom Coughlin said Nicks felt sore but expects the receiver to practice on Monday.
“I’m playing,” Nicks said as reporters gathered around his locker. “You don’t have to ask me no questions. I’m playing.”
Nicks did play in the final preseason game for New York, recording one catch. In 2011, the wideout caught 76 passes for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.
Kickoff for Wednesday night’s game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
