The Tampa Bay Rays continued their winning ways on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Chicago White Sox by a score of 6-2. The Rays have now won nine of their last 10 games and are still breathing in the American League Wild Card race. The club enters the final week of the season three games back with three to play. As for the White Sox, they are three games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.

B.J. Upton hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Rays an early lead. Ryan Roberts hit a solo homer in the fourth to make it 3-0. Alex Rios responded in the bottom of the fourth with a single that plated Chicago's first run the game. Dayan Viciedo then hit a sac fly to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Tampa Bay came right back in the top of the fifth. Evan Longoria doubled to plate a run, and Ben Francisco's sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 5-2. In the ninth, Upton hit his second home run of the game to give the Rays a 6-2 lead.

The White Sox were unable to do anything more against David Price and the bullpen. Price worked seven innings and recorded his 20th win of the season, and Fernando Rodney worked a perfect ninth inning to secure a victory for Tampa.

The Rays now return home to take on the Baltimore Orioles, who are tied for the AL East division lead. The White Sox head to Chicago to welcome in the Cleveland Indians. If either team loses a game this week, they are eliminated from playoff contention.
