Newly hired San Diego Chargers general manager Tom Telesco is currently looking for a new head coach. Most would think that the first place he would look is the Colts organization, where Telesco came from and where Bruce Arians helped lead the team to an 11-5 record, taking over the head coaching duty when Chuck Pagano was absent while fighting leukemia.
Chargers GM Tom Telesco says no edge for Bruce Arians for head coach job
Despite the connection between new Chargers general manager Tom Telesco and head coach candidate Bruce Arians, Telesco says Arians doesn’t have an inside track.

However, while on XTRA Sports 1360 in San Diego, Telesco said that Arians does not have a leg up on the competition due to the fact that he’s not the only person in charge of the hiring process.
“I wouldn’t say inside track, but the interview would be a lot easier because I already kind of know what his philosophy is. But I’m not the only person in the interview process. With Dean Spanos and John Spanos and Ron Wolf and Ed McGuire, we’ll also sit down with the coaches and go through them. But right now, pretty much everyone’s on an even track and we’ll get moving quickly on that now.”
The Chargers have been rumored to be interested in not only Arians, but former Bears coach Lovie Smith, former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt and Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
