Spanos lauded McCoy’s qualities, saying that McCoy has an “innovative mind for building offenses,” and that he has a “structured vision on how to build and coach a team.”
McCoy told the media that he knew minutes into his interview with San Diego that the Chargers were the right place for him. San Diego’s foundation, McCoy stated, set it apart from other teams, saying that the “foundation is in place to build a winner for a long time.”

These are simply interesting dynamics, given the familiarity of the rivals that the coaches are able to bring. Telesco, who just joined the Chargers, previously served as the director of player personnel with the Colts. His ties to Indianapolis may give Arians an edge in this race, but it’s clear San Diego is looking for someone with an offensive mind at this point.
