Lance Armstrong admits to using PEDs on ‘Oprah’

Lance Armstrong denied for years that he used performance-enhancing drugs -- until Monday, when Armstrong admitted to using PEDs on ‘Oprah.’

Lance Armstrong finally admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs, according to a source who spoke anonymously to the Associated Press. Armstrong made the confession to Oprah Winfrey on Monday, during a taping of her show, which will air Thursday on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles in Oct. 2012, and was subsequently banned from competition by the International Cycling Union.

Earlier Monday, Armstrong met with staff members of the Livestrong Foundation and issued an “emotional apology.” Armstrong did not admit to Livestrong members that used performance-enhancing drugs, but did apologize for putting the foundation at risk.

Armstrong, a cancer survivor, vehemently denied using performance-enhancing drugs in the past, and was previously subject to hundreds of drug tests. Still, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency issued a report that accused Armstrong of leading a doping program on his racing teams. The International Cycling Union accepted the findings of the report, leading to Armstrong’s ban.
