Tailgate Judgment: What did you have to eat and/or drink on game day?

Did you watch the AFC or NFC Championship Games Sunday? Did you attempt to eat food and/or drink libations while doing so? Was your venture successful? If so, describe what you ate/drank in the comments. Jon will rate it from 1 to 10.

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Hello, friends, and welcome to the NFL Conference Championships edition of TAILGATE JUDGMENT. Here’s the drill, if you’re new here:

  1. In the comments below, describe what you had to eat and/or drink while watching football.
  2. I will then, time permitting, respond with an issuance of a 1-through-10 rating. I will also do my best to explain my ruling.
  3. You will accept this ruling as absolute and superseding of all rulings in federal, state, and/or municipal courts.

I will start. I watched the games at The Back Door, a heralded Louisville neighborhood bar. It offers what is perhaps the second-heaviest pour-per dollar ratio in the city (behind Cahoots), and therefore, the world. I drank a few well bourbons, and since well bourbon tends to need help, I had it mixed with ginger ale to complete a humble, somewhat tasty, and effective cocktail. One ought to be careful with these, as The Back Door is an establishment whose idea of a pour is four or so ounces of liquor, and whose idea of a proper price for such a thing is only $2.75. I was not tremendously careful and had a great time. I will issue myself a drink rating of 7.5.

To eat, I ordered a chicken club sandwich and onion rings from the same establishment. Did it pair well with the cocktail? No, of course it didn’t, and that is my own doing. The sandwich was decent and the onion rings were quality. I am issuing myself a food rating of 7.

Your turn.
