Lindsey Vonn update: Ski racer says ‘surgery went very well’
Team USA skier Lindsey Vonn says surgery on her right leg to repair a torn ACL and a torn MCL “went very well,” on Monday.

Vonn took to her official Facebook page on Monday to make the announcement, saying “Surgery went very well yesterday and I’m recovering at home in Vail with my family.” Vonn also said that it’s going to be a “long and hard road back,” but that she will be back to compete eventually.
She also posted a picture of her with her family following the surgery. He right leg is, obviously, heavily bandaged and immobilized in a brace.
Generally, this kind of injury requires a long recovery period of about eight months. Some athletes have been able to beat that time by a month or two, while others have had to take much longer to rehabilitate the injury.
On top of that, athletes rarely return to form within the first year of the injury. It’s worth noting that Vonn also suffered a leg fracture that didn’t require surgery, so she has a difficult recovery ahead. While she might announce her intentions to compete at a specific event in the near future, if it’s anything this year, her official status will likely come down to the wire.
