While the first four games have yet to yield a buzzer-beater or a dramatic final minute, there has been plenty of action in the NCAA Tournament so far. Two mid-majors -- Saint Louis and Wichita State -- have advance to the third round alongside perennial contenders Michigan State and Butler. Each game was decided by double-digits, leaving much to be anticipated about the rest of the day’s action.
NCAA bracket update: Michigan State, Butler advance
It’s still early, but four teams have already punched their tickets into the third round, including a nine-seed in Wichita State.
The Midwest Bracket Of Death has had two of its top seeds advance, No. 3 Michigan State and No. 4 Saint Louis. The Spartans out-muscled Valparaiso to a 65-54 win, while the Bilikens handled 13th-seeded New Mexico State, 64-54.
Advancing in the East region is Butler, who survived an early scare from Bucknell, only to pull away and win, 68-56. The West region has one advancing team, with No. 9 Wichita State hammering Pittsburgh, 73-55.
